The Unitarian Universalist Church of Akron, like every other UU church, is a “Covenantal Community”. This means that we agree to a set of values and promises as a statement of who we are and how we will live and work together.

Read our Covenant

We aspire to participate in a religious community where we can take the risks necessary to grow spiritually and morally – a community of grace where we can make mistakes and be invited to become our better selves minimizing judgment or harm. We agree in unison at Sunday Worship Services “Love is the doctrine of this church” and that’s what we mean. Love, even when it’s hard.

When it’s hard, there is a team of members who have the skills to coach and assist other members to find ways to come “back into community” with the hope to heal wounds and misunderstandings. These trained members are the Right Relations Team. Their role is to assist members in living up to the promises of the Covenant. This Team is currently being restructured.

Should you have any questions about these processes, in need of assistance or just want to talk about the Covenant or our processes, please speak to one of these members or contact the right relations team.
