Justice Ministries
Community Meal – 4th Saturday of the Month 10:30 am-Noon. A drive through pickup, folks receive a home cooked meal and a bag of pantry items. Get involved. Email Bev at foodjustice@uuakron.org
Community Garden – Our sustainable organic garden contributes to our food distribution programs and surrounding efforts throughout the community. Get involved in the spring to plant, summer to harvest and fall to put to bed. email Whitney at garden@uuakron.org
Caring Cupboard/Whole Foods Distribution – Sunday Morning Distribution – 8:45 am-10 am. Food donated by Whole Foods and non-perishables are available to anyone in the community. Volunteer for Sunday morning distribution, email Sarah at sjmcouncil@uuakron.org
Racial Justice Task Force (RJTF) – responding to community efforts to address systemic racism and injustices. Make sure you are on our email list so you get notifications when we are called to action.

Highway Clean up– Twice a year we get the team together to do our part and clean up our section of the highway. If you would like to join us contact Hallie at hallie1764@gmail.com
Recycling Programs – Our “Recycle Row” along the back of the parking lot provides opportunities to recycle electronics, clothing, and household items.
LGBTQIA+ Resources – Promoting community events including the annual Akron Pride Festival. Margie’s Pantry is part of our Donation Station with non-perishables, clothing, and household items. Want to know what’s next? Email Sarah sjmcouncil@uuakron.org
Economic Justice – Donation Station- Open during Community Meal, Sunday morning food distribution 8:45 am-10 am and Wednesdays 9 am-2 pm. Clothing, necessaries, and household items available. Connection Ministries
Caring Committee – Reaching out to members with cards of sympathy or support. Want to know how to help? email Angie at pastoralassociates@uuakron.org
Pastoral Care – Visit members who are hospitalized, in nursing homes or other forms of residential care, and home-bound due to illness, infirmity, or age. Sponsors a monthly grief group and a monthly caregiver support group.
Grief Support – Providing a safe and compassionate space where individuals can find solace and support as they navigate their unique grief journeys. The group meets the third Wednesday of the month from 6-8 pm in the Church library.
Fellowship & Fun – Opportunities to come together for a picnic, Stone Soup and other programming.
UU Women’s Association (UUWA) – Meets monthly. Serving the social and spiritual needs of people through fellowship, group expression, a program of education, service and action. Want to get involved, email Cheryl at uuwa@uuakron.org
Community of Youth and Adults (COYA) – Meet 1 and 4th Sundays at Noon. Youth group for grades 7-12. Members plan and participate in social events, field trips, social justice and fundraising projects which build community and develop leadership skills. Get involved!
