LGBTQIA+ Resources

Each of us has worth and dignity, and that worth includes our gender and our sexuality. As Unitarian Universalists, we not only open our doors to people of all sexual orientations and gender identities, we value diversity of sexuality and gender and see it as a spiritual gift. We create inclusive religious communities and work for LGBTQIA+ justice and equity as a core part of who we are. All of who you are is sacred. All of who you are is welcome.
Safety, equity, and justice for Queer folks are on-going needs in our society. In recent years, our church has partnered with Margie’s Hope, Spectrum Diversity Community Center and other local LGBTQIA+ organizations to host events fostering social connections and support for LGBTQIA+ folks and allies.

This definition is not only scientifically false, but also divisive, hateful, and dehumanizing. We know that human gender identity is complex and ultimately up to each person to define for themselves.
Unitarian Universalism centers and affirms love for all people, especially those on the margins. We know that we are all interdependent and interconnected to each other, despite our outward differences. There are no such thing as other people’s children. They are all our own.
The Unitarian Universalist Church of Akron is a haven for those who feel unsafe in these difficult times. We are a beacon of love, justice, and freedom for all in Fairlawn, Akron, and Northeast Ohio. We welcome all, and pledge to support our beloved trans/nonbinary+ community.
In September 2023 we updated our bathrooms to gender neutral. We invite compassionate and ongoing dialogue around these issues, and as part of our work toward right relationship. Check out episode 3 of our video series below.
