This ritual is held in person only.
6 pm, McKeeman Room
Considered one of the primary time locked cracks between the worlds, this Feast of the Dead, Samhain, marks the end, and the beginning of the Celtic New Year. In the time when the new year begins, it is believed that two different worlds come together: the world of the ancestors and the world of the living.
The Celtic year does not fit together very neatly at the ends, and a person can slip from one world to another. The other world is the one where the spirits live. It is not thought of as heaven or hell. It’s just another kind of world.
Wiccans celebrate a variation of Samhain as one of their yearly Sabbats of the Wheel of the Year. It is deemed by most Wiccans to be the most important of the four “greater Sabbats.” Samhain is seen as a time to celebrate the lives of those who have died, and paying respect to ancestors, family members, elders of the faith, friends, pets and other loved ones who have died. We will gather to remember those who have gone before us. What is remembered lives on in our hearts and souls.
•Please bring a memento, or photo of your loved one to be placed on the Altar of Souls. Yes, four-legged, winged ones, scaled and finned….all will be remembered.
•Children may be in circle, but must be respectful of a deeply symbolic, meditative, and sacred ritual.
