| Greetings fellow congregants, We had a successful congregational meeting in December thanks to the hard work of our parliamentarian, board secretary, administrator, tech team, and all our members who participated. We were proud to announce that this year, for the first time, the UUCA is at the fair compensation level recommended by the UUA for all of our staff. While preparing for the meeting we got an accurate number of members (242, the highest since 2019 (!), and we expect that more individuals and families will be signing the book when scheduling allows. As we navigate the pandemic, the data shows that “layered protection” is the best way forward. Vaccination, masking, distancing, limiting crowds, filtration, hybrid services, as well as temporary safer at home periods during surges are all proven ways we stay safe. Ther board of trustees will use all of these methods to ensure we can keep doing church. In the new year we will focus on how we can bring filtration to the sanctuary, our continued stewardship campaign, and the upcoming search. Despite the difficulties we are moving forward carrying the beacon of Unitarian Universalism in our community. And we know that our voice, our advocacy, and our loving action are needed now more than ever as our country faces the twin crises of pandemic and ongoing threats to our democracy. Take good care of yourselves, and each other, Cir L’Bert, Jr. President, UU Church of Akron, Board of Trustees |
