Dear Fellow Congregants,

As I write this, we’re fresh off our Next Steps Weekend.  Our Board engaged consultant Rachel Maxwell, from Stewardship for Us, an independent consulting agency.  She advised us about building a culture of generosity at the UU Church of Akron.  It seems that we have some aspects of church well-being and financial health that we need to address before we can get serious about raising money for big projects.

I attended the vast majority of the conversations held between Rachel and the congregational leaders with whom she spoke.  These conversations ranged from insightful, to funny, to raw emotion, to heartwarming.  I felt privileged to be present for your stories.  Thank you all for your participation and honesty.  We as a Board are having conversations about our NEXT next steps.Below are links to the presentation Rachel gave to the congregation at the end of our weekend together. If you were unable to attend, please take the time to watch the video. We will share Rachel’s full report with the congregation as soon as we receive it.  In the meantime, we will all try to take her words to heart.  Let’s try to love one another fully and show the kindness and patience that you would like to receive from others.
