Hello fellow congregants,
Fall is here and that means the return of cool nights, autumn stews, looming holidays, and the start of the church year. Our outdoor ingathering was a success, and we continue to meet for hybrid services (plenty of room on Sunday mornings so feel free to sign up!).
While we are joyful to be meeting again the board of trustees is also monitoring the state of the pandemic, specifically the surge caused by new variants and unvaccinated people. Thankfully we can rely on the knowledge of our newly official (though in operation for over a year) UUCA Physicians’ Committee , consisting of Drs. Libby and Jeff Archinal, Andy Culver and Angela Powell. They are closely monitoring the local hospitals for overflow and changes in elective procedures, which would necessitate a change back to Zoom only service. So far, so good, and we are hopeful that the current level of infection is the peak for this surge.
In other church news, look out for your Stewardship Campaign information in the mail, and for information on the Beyond Categorical Thinking workshop this month. The workshop is for the whole congregation and will consist of a Saturday session and a Sunday service. It focuses on helping congregations challenge their pre-conceptions and prepare for a new settled minister. Finally, thank you for the birthday wishes a couple months ago, and the well wishes for my health issues. I’m grateful to be part of such a caring community and excited to continue with you all in the great work of our congregation.
Take good care of yourselves, and each other, Cir L’Bert, Jr.
President, UU Church of Akron, Board of Trustees
