As we collectively bend the moral and material arc of the universe toward justice, it is vital that we can trust one another to sometimes be still and bear witness. We must practice being present with one another with an empathy that honors our different life experiences, along with a self-examination that cautions us against believing everything we already think. “When we bear witness, we prioritize the story someone else chooses to tell over the questions we want immediately answered, or our desires about how we want their story to unfold”.
