Special Programming for Youth & Teens
Committee of Youth and Adults (COYA)
COYA is our youth leadership group for 7th to 12th graders and serves a role in aiding our youth as they walk the bridge from youth to adulthood. COYA youth develop and do fundraising projects, fun social events like the annual Pajama Jam, and service projects in and around our community. COYA youth are able to have a lot of fun, feel connected, and develop their own identities as they practice leadership, service, and collaboration.
Our Whole Lives (OWL)
Our Whole Lives is the best human sexuality and relationship-values course ever developed. OWL has been a core program for grades 7-9 at UUCA youth for many years. It is offered every other year (alternating with COA).
The program kicks off in September with parent information and orientation sessions. Once youth sign on and commitments are made, the group will be closed for the year. This is necessary for building the trust and sense of safety among members that is vital to the success of OWL. It’s a phenomenal experience. Don’t’ miss this opportunity for your youth to be part of a program designed to help them lead a healthy and fulfilling life. Class size is limited.
Coming of Age (COA)
Coming of Age is our special program for 8th and 9th graders offered every other year (alternating with OWL). COA builds confidence, friendships, and self knowledge. It helps youth, and their parents, recognize their growing maturity and gifts. The Coming of Age group meets October May. Due to the nature of this program, which relies on the group’s development of trust and understanding and includes mentors for each youth, the class will be closed following registration in September.
